THANKS!

To The Greater Dufferin Homebuilders Association:
Thanks just doesn't say it all in this case.  Our new addition is up and running, and it is impossible to say exactly how much it has changed what we can offer to our young people.  We now have a counselling office, a meeting room, space for organized storage so we can find what the kids need when they come to us, and so very much more!  We would really appreciate it if our friends would click on THIS link to see a list of the people and companies who made this addition possible.  To all of them, we give our undying gratitude for their hard work and generosity.

Thanks and welcome aboard to Ed Howard, our new IT guy!  Here's his website, in case you also find yourself in need of tech help:  http://intellicore.com/     Maybe we will get you a picture in our next newsletter so you can see him hard at work getting us up to speed - technically speaking!  He is going to make our lives so much easier and help us work so much more efficiently!  It's all for the kids!

A great big thank you to the youth of St. James Anglican Church, Caledon East, for their inventive twist on the usual Hallowe'en theme.  We appreciate the work and creativity that went into putting this together.  A job well done!!

CHOICES Youth Shelter is proudly supported by a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.  Read more.

To the Orangeville Chapter of the BNI, we say thanks and hope they continue to have fun times in raising funds for CHOICES.

To all the volunteers who have donated their time to chaperone the Cosmic Kaos dances, you have no idea how valued you are!  We appreciate all the effort you have given to us and to the dancers to make sure that these events are a safe and happy place for them to be.  We extend a special thank you to Sheila for the coffee and tea donations which make the evenings nicer for all the chaperones.

Orangeville Furniture and Bedding has donated some amazing furniture to us, which has made CHOICES more of a home and given us attractive storage as well as comfortable seating and study areas for our residents.  Many thanks!

Mary Anne, Marilyn, Liz, Ron, and Lisa, thank you for all you do!!

Special thanks to the students and staff of ODSS for the amazing food drive they organized for us.   Thank you!

Thank you Orangeville WalMart, for all these wonderful storage tubs for our residents to keep their belongings!

Thank you to Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. and to the Clorox Company of Canada for their generous donations to the shelter.

Please check out our House page to see a list of local businesses who have been lending a helping hand to get our house ready for us.   We really are grateful for their support, and hope that our friends will support THEM whenever possible.

The Rotary Club of Palgrave has offered (and we have accepted with glee) to provide CHOICES with frozen juice for a second year, with the cooperation of Zehrs, Orangeville.   We are very grateful to all who are a part of this generous gift to our residents.   They love the juice, and the added nutrition helps to keep them healthier, which in turn means that they will be more reliable and better learners, whether at work or at school.   Thank you!

To "IN THE HILLS" magazine and Iain Richmond, we would like to express our thanks for a well-researched, hauntingly illustrated, and beautifully written article which explains so much of what being young and homeless is all about.   Click this link and read it for yourself: A Shelter From the Cold
